Wine cellar visits with tasting in Tuscia of the finest local gourmet produce

The vulcanic soil of Tuscia has peculiarly marked the wine production since the Etruscan era. Two areas devoted to vineyards form the “Strada dei Vini” or Wine Route: one spreading from Civitella d’Agliano, north-east of Lake Bolsena, to north of Orvieto, producing the best “grechetto” and exquisite “muffati”; the other surrounds Gradoli and is renowned for “Aleatico”.  A world famous historical label is the DOC Est! Est!! Est!!! around Montefiascone.

Excellent and sometimes small wine producers of the best local labels welcome you to visit their wine-cellars and taste their selection: Atlante, Montiano, Habemus, Tertium, Vigna Grande Rosso (red sangiovese, merlot, canaiolo and violone) and Est!Est!Est!!!, Grechetto, Manti, Roscetto, Aleatico (white trebbiano, malvasia).

Numerous olive-oil, wine, hazelnut, chestnut, truffle and mushroom festivals scattered throughout the area from July to November are a gastronomical must, such as the gathering of 80 volcanic wine producers from all over Italy in early July or the Fiera del Vino in Montefiascone in the first half of August.

Tuscia also offers an organic selection of typical cheeses, salami, and legumes.
