L'eleganza di una dimora storica

Our story

A historical manor house for our family tradition

In 1872 our great-grandfather, Vincenzo Nicolini, and his brother Luigi bought the maquis of the Holy Trinity and part of the area named Querce d’Orlando (Orlando’s Oaks), mentioned on the Tabula Peutingeriana (III/IV century a.D.).

“Vincenzo and his brother Luigi then set about bonificating the land by planting avenues of cypress and pine trees. Although no design or map has survived, undoubtedly they planted the whole park (there is mention of 1 million pine trees) between 1894-5….The continuity in the placement of trees and avenues makes the park a single corpus”.*

La Trinità, The Archeological and Historical Importance of the area known as La Trinità and Querce d’Orlando, Dr. Mary Jane Cryan, 1998

In this same park in 1889 a magnificent marble sarcophagus of the Seasons or of the Ghirlande (120 a.D.) was found inside a mausoleum. On the lid it depicted scenes of the myth of  Teseo and Arianna and the seasons. It is nowadays preserved at the Metropolitan Museum in New York.

A nenfro bas-relief with gladiators in battle also came from this site and, after gracing the courtyard at Viterbo Civic Museum, was hidden away in the storerooms of the city’s Archeological Museum at Rocca Albornoz.

It wasn’t until 1892 that Vincenzo enlarged the manor house built on the remains of an ancient construction to form its current shape according to his own project.

Our Family scrupulously restored the villa redolent of past times to offer present-day comfort, as well as the 20 hectares park, enhancing its historical value and landscape significance in order to maintain and strengthen its fascination as an early XX Century romantic park, adding characteristics by buxus and viburnum bushes and laurel trees.

We have been sensitively imbibed with our great-grand father’s inspiration revealing our family identity through our property and we are now guardians of a tradition that we will pass on to our children.

Everything about this property reveals something of our family, custodians of a tradition that we pass on with love to our children

Fantastic property, nothing to complain. It is good for 4 couples and kids. We had a fantastic host and great chef on the property. The indoor and outdoor of the property are immaculate. I will definitely go back.
We stayed in this beautiful villa as a family of four generations. It was perfect - even lovelier in real life than in the pictures. The villa has a wonderful landed country house feel and a large and beautiful garden as well as a huge pool. The staff were great and our hostess extremely helpful. Go!

This villa is the Italian Villa dream come true. One of the most beautiful vacations we have ever had with the most wonderful host Michela whom we became friends with. It is a special place like no other and I look forward to visiting again!

Unusually beautiful house and garden, tranquil and charming. All you need - all I needed! - is provided in the house including electrical car charging. Lovely swimming pool but in case you care not heated. Mind you plenty of summer Sun. Michela rightly proud of her house, very quickly replies to queries, very helpful. Paolo has made wonderful gardens.

We had an absolutely wonderful stay this past July! Gorgeous (and spacious!) villa and grounds - including a perfect pool area for our three families (adults and older children/teens). Our hosts were extremely helpful in settling us in and answering any questions we had during our stay - wonderful recommendations for local activities and restaurants, etc.
What an amazing property. You were taking back in time to when children rambled through bushes and trees, and listened to birds singing. The Majestic Cedars of Lebanon on the front lawn majestically protects the villa from midday heat. It is tranquil and quiet. The pool is beautiful and so tastefully surrounded by a hedge and fence, making it very safe for children develop its self is cool and allows you to browse through the many books on art history.

After driving along countless orchards and passing through small villages you turn onto a long dusty road, at the end of which you are greeted by a house that could have easily be dreamed up by a romantic novelist. The house is beautifully set in the lush green grounds and honestly, the pictures do not do it justice.
You'll feel transported to another era when you step foot on this stunningly beautiful property. The owners have lovingly restored this beautiful villa to its original glory. If you let your mind wander you're really transported at this timeless property, despite all the modern conveniences. The home is well laid out and when you roll back the shutters you are hit with spectacular sunlight throughout the home.

We had a great time at this lovely villa very close to Rome, with beautiful gardens and a fantastic swimming pool which is secure and fenced so perfect with small children. The house has been beautifully restored in traditional style and we enjoyed a very comfortable stay. We would highly recommend Villa La Trinità, especially for families.

We enjoyed a magical week at the villa this summer. The architectural standard of the villa is fabulous with no expense spared on the infrastructure and maintenance. The gardens are a delight, white butterfly-shimmering borders with roses and fragrant lavender leave you feeling like you are indeed in a magical place. It felt like home away from home. The villa owners Paolo and Michela were charming and could not do enough to make our week enjoyable. We will be back!
We were guests of dear friends during the first week in July. 'La Trinita' was all & everything you could possibly hope for; a handsome villa, perfectly situated, comfortable (luxurious!), quiet & and wonderfully peaceful. We had the best time.

We spent a wonderful week at Villa La Trinità. Each couple had a luxurious bedroom with ensuite bath, and access to the entire villa - a stately 19th-century mansion with a lovely pool, set in a park of green lawns, glorious trees, lavender and roses. It was a perfect base for discovering the land of the ancient Etruscans and Romans, both by car and on foot: there are countless scenic paths to explore. Michela made us all feel at home and treated us like family. Highly recommended!
The villa itself is beautiful, with huge grounds. Everything is well kept, and though we were not able to use the pool because of the weather, it looks great. Michela, the owner, was extremely nice and helpful. We come to Italy at least once a year, usually to Tuscany, but now we added Lazio as a preferred destination to our family travel map.
We stayed for a week at La Trinita and loved it. The house is beautiful and yet really comfortable too. It has a great pool so we spent a lot of time relaxing at the villa but we also visited interesting places in the local area and also made a couple of trips to Rome. The owners were really helpful and explained how everything worked and gave us lots of useful tips about the area too. It was a brilliant location for a family holiday and we hope to go back.

I was at Villa La Trinità for two lunches organized at the property. Beautiful venue, great food and lovely hostess. Recommended if you want to organize an event as if you were at home!! Furthermore, the place offers the possibility of organizing various cultural and naturalistic itineraries.
I discovered this beautiful residence near Rome, during a lunch with friends. The owners' hospitality was welcoming and familiar, and in particular I appreciated the simple and refined menu served in the garden of the villa by a friendly caterer. Definitely recommended!
Respect for Nature, refinement and exquisite hospitality! I would define Villa La Trinità as a perfect mix of these three things, all seasoned with the hospitality and courtesy of the owners who did everything to make us feel at home! A magical and enchanting place not far from Rome, ideal for a romantic and strategic getaway for visiting the interesting places of Tuscia!
I highly recommend Villa La Trinita for a romantic, relaxing and quiet break in pretty surroundings and hope to return one day.
